Peter Hoekman, MD

Lakeshore Health Partners-Ear, Nose & Throat

Dr. Peter Hoekman doesn’t just know and love the Holland community—he’s had life-long insight into the Holland medical community. That’s because he grew up here, and like him, his mother practiced medicine in the area.

Before Lakeshore Health Partners, he cultivated his passion for healing at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where he cared for people of all ages facing a variety of severe and common ENT conditions.

Millions of Americans suffer from thyroid problems that can range from nodules, thyroid function abnormalities, and even cancer. While many of us may not give much thought to the critical role this butterfly-shaped gland plays in our health, Dr. Hoekman has made diagnosing and treating the complex diseases that can affect the thyroid a priority. He can provide clarity when faced with the uncertainty of a mass within the thyroid gland and surgically address more serious problems. He offers the latest in office-based evaluation of thyroid masses, incorporating ultrasound, fine-needle biopsy, and molecular testing for thyroid nodules. This breakthrough technology reduces the need for surgery and improves a physician’s ability to detect cancer on office biopsy.
